- Surveys & Testing
Measure it before you spend.
Every survey, assessment and certificate, from one contractor, across Chertsey and Surrey.
Which survey do you actually need?
Eight of them, and they answer genuinely different questions.
- EPC certificatesThe standard certificate. Needed to sell, to let, and for most grants.
- Retrofit assessment (PAS 2035)The whole-house assessment funded work requires.
- Retrofit surveyThe narrower version, for private work.
- Heat loss calculationsRoom by room. What sizes a heat pump and decides the radiators.
- Air tightness testingBlower door testing for building control, and after retrofit.
- Damp & mould surveyReadings and a diagnosis before anybody specifies a fix.
- Asbestos survey & removalPre-2000 properties, before anything is disturbed.
- Thermal imaging surveyWhere the heat actually goes. October to March.
Why measuring first is cheaper
Every expensive mistake in this trade starts with somebody specifying work before establishing the problem.

Damp specified without measuring
Injection for what turns out to be condensation. The mould comes back, and the money is gone.
A heat pump sized off the old boiler
Boilers are almost always oversized. Match one and you buy a heat pump twice the size the house needs, and run it inefficiently for its life.
Solid wall insulation without an assessment
The most common cause of serious retrofit damage. What the wall was doing beforehand decides what it can take.
Insulation with no evidence for the EPC
Work done, no certificate kept, and the assessor has to assume the worst case. You paid for points you do not get.
Surveys we have carried out
Readings, tests and the work that followed.

How a survey runs
Usually within a week
Sooner where work is waiting on it or there is a health concern.
One to four hours
Depending on the survey. An EPC is under two; a PAS 2035 assessment is longer.
Not estimated
Readings, dimensions and photographs as evidence, rather than judgement from the doorway.
A written report
Findings and recommendations, in a document you keep and can show to anybody.
A quotation
For what the survey actually recommends, from the same company that measured it.
After the report lands
A report you cannot act on is an invoice with words on it.
The report, in writing
Readings, findings and recommendations. Lodged on the national register where that applies.
We will tell you what not to do
Reports generate lists. We will say which items matter on your property and which are defaults.
Work we then do is guaranteed
Two years on our workmanship, in writing, transferable and insurance-backed.
Questions after the report
The surveyor and the installer are the same company.
Two things people ask about next
Both have a page of their own.
The questions we get asked most
Which survey do I need?
For selling or letting, an EPC. For funded work, a PAS 2035 retrofit assessment. For a heat pump, a heat loss calculation. For damp, a damp survey. Ring us and we will tell you which rather than sell you all four.
Do I need a survey before a quotation?
For insulation, damp and heat pumps, yes. It is what stops a quotation changing once the work has started.
Are you accredited?
PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 for retrofit, under TrustMark 3288118.
Will you quote for the work afterwards?
Yes. The report is yours either way, and it is written so any competent contractor can price from it.
Can you do more than one in a visit?
Often, and it saves time and money. An EPC and a retrofit survey together is a common combination.
What if the survey says do nothing?
Then it says do nothing, and that is a useful answer. It is why we measure before specifying.

Often worth doing at the same time
Same team, same survey, one visit where it makes sense.
