What a proper boiler job includes

Most of the difference between installations is in the parts nobody photographs.

Sizing from heat loss
An oversized boiler cycles on and off, wears faster and costs more to run. The size comes from the house, not from what was there before.
A system flush and filter
Old system water wrecks new heat exchangers. A chemical flush and a magnetic filter are part of the job, not an upsell.
Smart controls and zoning
Programmable, zoned where the layout allows, so you are not heating the whole house to warm one room.
Gas Safe and Benchmark
Registered with Gas Safe, and the Benchmark commissioning record completed — which is what your warranty depends on.

Boiler, or heat pump?

We install both. Two questions.

Is the house on mains gas?

How is it insulated?

It is genuinely a close call

On gas with decent insulation, both work. The heat pump costs more up front, less to run, and carries £7,500 off.

Boiler

A new boiler makes sense

On mains gas, in a house that is not yet insulated, a correctly sized boiler is the sensible answer today.

  • Installed in a day, sometimes two
  • No cylinder needed if you are on a combi and staying on one
  • Smart controls and zoning included
  • No grant — boilers are outside the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Insulate first and a heat pump becomes viable later
Either one

It is genuinely a close call

On gas with decent insulation, both work. The heat pump costs more up front, less to run, and carries £7,500 off.

  • £7,500 off the heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Heat pump needs a cylinder, so a combi gets replaced
  • Boiler is faster to fit and cheaper on the day
  • We will price both and show you the difference
  • The heat loss calculation is what settles it
Heat pump

A heat pump is the stronger option

Off the gas grid, or in a well insulated house, the running cost and the grant both point the same way.

  • £7,500 off through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, and we apply
  • Three to four units of heat per unit of electricity
  • Off the gas grid the running cost difference is largest
  • Needs a cylinder and possibly some larger radiators
  • Two to four days on site rather than one

The heat loss calculation and your current tariff decide it. We price both.

How the job runs

Day one

What you have now

Boiler, cylinder, radiators and controls, and what is actually wrong with it.

Within days

The quotation

Sized from the house, with the heat pump priced alongside if it is a real option.

Before we book

The date

Most swaps are a single day. Moving the boiler or changing system type takes longer.

One to two days

Installation

Removal, install, flush, filter, controls and commissioning.

Same day

Registered

Gas Safe notification, Benchmark completed, and the controls set up with you.

What happens once we leave

A boiler wants servicing once a year, and the warranty depends on it.

Your paperwork, on the day

Gas Safe notification, the Benchmark commissioning record and the manufacturer documentation.

A two year guarantee

On our workmanship, in writing and insurance-backed, alongside the manufacturer's warranty on the boiler.

Annual service

It keeps the manufacturer warranty valid and catches the small things before they become January emergencies.

One number, not a call centre

We attend within five working days, and within 24 hours with no heating or hot water.

The questions we get asked most

Should I get a boiler or a heat pump?

It depends on whether you are on mains gas and how well insulated the house is. We fit both, so we will price both and show you the difference rather than steering you.

Is there a grant for a new boiler?

No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers heat pumps, not boilers.

Is there VAT on a boiler?

Yes, at the standard rate. The 0% relief covers solar, battery storage, heat pumps and insulation. It does not cover boilers.

How long does a swap take?

A straight replacement in the same position is usually a day. Moving it, or changing from a system boiler to a combi, takes longer.

Do you flush the system?

Yes, and a magnetic filter goes on. Old system water is the most common cause of a new heat exchanger failing early.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes, number 603349, and you can check it on the Gas Safe register.

What size boiler do I need?

Smaller than most houses have. Sizing comes from the heat loss of the property rather than from matching whatever is on the wall now.
