What whole-home actually means
Not everything at once. It means every measure designed knowing what the others are doing.
One assessment, not five quotes
The house is surveyed once: construction, moisture, heat loss, ventilation and how you actually live in it.
A plan with an order in it
Fabric before plant, ventilation alongside, generation last. Written down, so you can do it in stages without undoing anything.
Measures sized against each other
The heat pump is sized after the insulation is in the plan, not before. That is usually the difference between a 12kW unit and an 8kW one.
One contractor carrying it
Where one measure affects another, there is nobody to point at. It is us.
What a PAS 2035 job involves
Four roles the standard requires, and we hold all of them.
- Retrofit assessment
- A full survey of the property: construction, condition, moisture, occupancy and energy use. It is the evidence everything else rests on.
- Retrofit design
- The measures, their sequence, and how moisture and ventilation are handled once the house is tighter.
- Retrofit installation
- PAS 2030 certified installation of each measure, by our own people.
- Evaluation and handover
- Checks after the work, the paperwork the scheme needs, and the documentation you keep.

Warm Homes: Local Grant, ECO4 and their predecessors all require PAS 2035. It is not a badge, it is the process the funding is conditional on — assessment, design, certified installation and evaluation.
It is also, separately, the reason retrofit goes wrong less often. Most of the horror stories are solid wall insulation installed without an assessment of what the wall was doing beforehand.
We hold PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 under TrustMark licence 3288118, so the certified part is not subcontracted.

The questions we get asked most
Do I have to do everything at once?
No, and most people do not. What matters is that it is one plan with an order in it, so nothing you pay for now gets undone later.
What is PAS 2035?
The standard for retrofitting homes. It sets out assessment, design, installation and evaluation, and funded schemes require it.
Is it more expensive than doing measures separately?
Per measure, usually less, because the survey and the scaffolding are shared and the heat pump comes out smaller. The assessment itself is an extra step.
Do you do the assessment yourselves?
Yes. We hold PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 rather than buying the certified part in.
Can I get funding for it?
Whole-house retrofit is what the funded schemes are designed around. Eligibility depends on the household and the property, and we check it before you commit.
How long does the whole thing take?
Weeks to months depending on scope. The assessment and design come first, and you get the programme before anything starts.
